WCHR Handy Hunter Awards

WCHR Handy Hunter National Awards
- Points for the WCHR Handy Hunter Awards will be tracked from
the following WCHR National Divisions:
- Professional
- Emerging Professional 3'6"
- Amateur Owner 3'6"
- Junior
- Riders earn points by competing in the handy class of their respective divisions at any WCHR show.
- Points will be calculated based on their placing in the handy class and using the USEF Increment chart for AA competitions (see www.ahjf.com/wchr-point_system.shtml).
- If there is a WCHR Handy Hunter Classic the points will count based on the USEF Increment Point Chart for Classics. The rider will be given points from either the handy class within their division or from their placing in the WCHR Handy Hunter Classic - which ever produces more points.
- Riders who compete on more than one horse will only earn points from their highest placing in their respective handy class at each show.
- Only points from the rider's top four WCHR shows will count toward year-end Awards.
- Points accumulated in the handy classes of WCHR recognized divisions at the Capital Challenge Horse Show are added to the riders top four shows.
- The Capital Challenge Horse Show will host the WCHR Handy Hunter Challenge Class. Active WCHR members will earn additional points toward WCHR National Handy Hunter awards by competing in the WCHR Handy Hunter Challenge Class. Bonus points, toward WCHR National awards, will be awarded in all WCHR Challenge Classes as follows: 140, 130, 120, 110, 108, 106. The rider with the most points after the the WCHR Handy Hunter Challenge Class will be the WCHR National Handy Hunter Rider Champion.
- In addition, the WCHR will invite the top 30 nationally ranked riders to the WCHR Handy Hunter Finals at the Capital Challenge Horse Show.
WCHR Handy Hunter Regional Awards
- Points for the WCHR Handy Hunter Awards will be tracked from
the following WCHR National Divisions:
- Professional
- Emerging Professional 3'6"
- Amateur Owner 3'6"
- Junior
- Riders earn points by competing in the handy class of their respective divisions at any WCHR show held within their designated region.
- Points will be calculated based on their placing in the handy class and using the USEF Increment chart for AA competitions (see www.ahjf.com/wchr-point_system.shtml).
- If there is a WCHR Handy Hunter Classic the points will count based on the USEF Increment Point Chart for Classics. The rider will be given points from either the handy class within their division or from their placing in the WCHR Handy Hunter Classic — which ever produces more points.
- Riders who compete on more than one horse will only earn points from their highest placing in their respective handy class at each show.
- Only points from the rider's top four WCHR shows, within their designated region, will count toward year-end Awards. The rider with the most cumulative points from their top four shows will be the WCHR Regional Handy Hunter Champion.
- TheWCHR will invite the Champion and Reserve Champion from each WCHR region to the WCHR Handy Hunter Finals at the Capital Challenge Horse Show.
THE WCHR HANDY HUNTER FINALS
To take place at the Capital Challenge Horse Show
Open to the top 30 riders in the WCHR HANDY HUNTER NATIONALS STANDINGS,
the Champion and Reserve Champion from each of the Regional Handy
Hunter standings and to the top four riders in the Handy Hunter
Class at the Capital Challenge from each of the following divisions:
First Year Green; Second Year Green; Green Conformation; Regular
Working; Regular Conformation; Amateur Owner 18-35; Amateur Owner
36 & Over; Small Junior Hunter 15 & Under; Small Junior Hunter 16-17;
Large Junior Hunter 15 & Under; Large Junior Hunter 16-17. The optimum
number of exhibitors is 30.
A qualified rider may show any horse in the challenge class. Only
one horse per rider. Course obstacles to simulate those found in
a hunting country. The course must have at least two changes of
direction and at least one combination as well as three of the following:
hand gallop a jump; bending line; rollback turn; fence at the end
of the ring or open a gate while mounted; trot over one obstacle
or lead over one obstacle. Judges must place emphasis on promptness
and tight turns with precedence being given in that order. |
